Roll On...

I think I finished the lyrics for Roll On, Mighty Danube. Check them out:

On the road to Bratislava...

On the road to Bratislava...

On the road to Bratislava,
Green fields form a lush brocade.
Through the trees I could see a
Bright yellow IKEA
Leading a box store parade.

Through the trees I could see a bright yellow IKEA.

Through the trees I could see a bright yellow IKEA.

Roll on, mighty Danube, your waters run deep.
Roll on, mighty Danube, your waters run deep.

Just about an hour from Budapest
Grassy hills frame the Burger Kings.
I was tempted to stop for
A coke and a Whopper
And an order of onion rings.

Grassy hills frame the Burger Kings

Grassy hills frame the Burger Kings

Roll on, mighty Danube, your waters run deep.
Roll on, mighty Danube, your waters run deep.

At a rest stop outside Vukovar
Meadows soaking up the summer heat.
I lost my map
In a pile of McDonalds wrappers
Littered all over the street.

Roll on, mighty Danube, your waters run deep.
Roll on, mighty Danube, your waters run deep.

Not five minutes out of Belgrade
Where the windmills are proud and tall.
Some teens were thanking heaven
For the 7-11
On their way to the shopping mall.

Roll on, mighty Danube, your waters run deep.
Roll on, mighty Danube, your waters run deep.

At my journey’s end in Bucharest
Where the Romanian girls are so fine.
I bought some commuters
Oyster shooters at the Hooters
And got drunk on Fuzzy Navels and wine.

I joined the six o'clock commuters for oyster shooters at the Hooters.

I joined the six o'clock commuters for oyster shooters at the Hooters.

Roll on, mighty Danube, your waters run deep.
Roll on, mighty Danube, your waters run deep.

In the final stanza I want the words come fast, like the Major General song from Pirates of Penzance. If I get the timing right, I hope you'll be left thinking "Wait, did he really say that?" And why not end a pop song with an image of drinking Fuzzy Navels with hot Romanian girls in a Hooters in Bucharest? Is there a rule against it?

Here's another Mountain-Goaty demo:
